How to turn a photo into a video with AI

Image-to-video takes one still and produces a short clip in which the scene moves: a portrait that breathes and turns, a landscape where clouds drift, a product that rotates. Done well it looks filmed. Done carelessly it melts. The difference is mostly in the input image and the motion prompt.

Guide

What image-to-video actually does

The model treats your photo as the first frame and predicts the following frames. It keeps composition, colour and subject from the image, and takes motion from your prompt. Because the first frame is fixed, the result is far more controllable than text-to-video: you decide what the scene looks like, the model only decides how it moves.

Clips are short by design, typically five to ten seconds, and the models are better at camera moves and small natural motion than at complex actions. 'Slow push-in, hair moving in a light breeze' works. 'She stands up, walks to the door and opens it' usually does not.

In practice

Choosing the input and the prompt

Use a sharp, well-lit image with the subject clearly separated from the background and some empty space in the direction you want motion. Avoid images with text, tight crops, or many small people; those are where artefacts appear first.

Write the motion prompt as a director would: camera movement first, then subject motion, then atmosphere. Keep it under two sentences. State what should not move if it matters ('background static'). If the model supports an end frame, giving it one removes most of the guesswork.

Step by step

How to do it in Vyndexo

Step 1

Pick the model

Open Media Studio, switch to Video, and choose an image-to-video model. Vyndexo lists 70 video models including Kling, Veo, Luma, Runway, Hailuo and Seedream, with price per second shown before you generate.

Step 2

Upload the frame

Drop your photo in as the start frame. Set the aspect ratio to match the image so nothing gets cropped.

Step 3

Describe the motion

One or two sentences: camera move, subject motion, mood. Choose a duration; shorter clips are cheaper and fail less.

Step 4

Generate and iterate

Review the clip in the project. If it melts, simplify the motion or try a second model on the same frame; the input stays in the project so a retry is one click.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does a photo-to-video clip cost?

It depends on the model and the length. The price per second is shown next to each model and the total before you confirm; you pay from Tools credits, and bought credits never expire.

Can I add sound?

Some video models generate audio; for others you can add voice with the lip-sync tool afterwards.

Why does the face change during the clip?

Usually the motion asked for is too large for the duration. Reduce the motion or the duration, or pick a model known for identity stability.
