Midjourney cost versus pay-per-use
Midjourney is a superb model sold one way: a monthly subscription with tiers by GPU hours. Whether that is good value depends entirely on your volume and on whether you only ever want one model. For many people the maths points the other way.
What you pay for with a subscription
Midjourney's plans are priced by monthly GPU time, from a basic tier around ten dollars to pro tiers several times that, and the time resets each month. If you generate steadily all month, that can be efficient. If you generate in bursts, you pay for idle months, and you are always on one model: excellent at a certain aesthetic, weaker at text in images, exact product reproduction and photoreal people compared to some current alternatives.
What you pay for per use
Per-image pricing across several models costs cents per image, with no idle cost. More importantly you pick the model per job: Ideogram for typography, FLUX for photoreal and control, Seedream for stylised work, GPT Image for prompts that need understanding, Nano Banana for fast edits. The model landscape moves every quarter, and pay-per-use means you move with it without a new subscription.
Which is cheaper for you
Below a few hundred images a month, pay-per-use wins clearly. Above that, compare a Workspace plan's monthly Tools allowance with the subscription tier you would need; both numbers are public. The non-price factor is model choice, and that only goes one way.
How to do it in Vyndexo
Count your real volume
Look at last month: how many images did you actually keep?
Price it per image
Multiply by the per-image credit price of the models you would use; prices are shown in the picker.
Try the models free
The Free plan plus a small credit pack lets you compare FLUX, Ideogram and Seedream on your own prompts.
Decide on data
Keep the subscription only if the per-image maths says so.
Common questions
Is Midjourney itself available in Vyndexo?
Midjourney does not offer a public API, so no. The catalog covers the models that do, which includes the current leaders for photoreal, typography and editing.
Do I lose quality by switching?
Different, not lower. For typography, product shots and realistic people several current models outperform; for a specific painterly look, test first.
Can I bring my Midjourney images in?
Yes, as references or for editing, upscaling and video generation.
